Its collection encompasses ancient and modern art works, alongside a lesser-known photographic archives held at its Library, such as 1) the Victor Goloubew collection, 2) the Comte de Polignac collection, and 3) Documentary resources: Archaeological excavations - China.

1) THE VICTOR GOLOUBEW COLLECTION ENCOMPASSES:
- 59 black and white photographs of works exhibited at the third exhibition of “Arts de l’Asie” [Asian Arts] (April 2 – June 30, 1912), presenting paintings, jade and glassware from China and the fourth exhibition on “Art bouddhique” [Buddhist Art] ( April 15 – June 30, 1913), organized with Victor Goloubew.

2) THE COMTE DE POLIGNAC COLLECTION INCLUDES:
- 15 boxes containing 451 glass plates with stereoscopic views of the journey of Count Charles de Polignac, Commander Louis Audémard and balloonist Jacques Faure during their ascent of the Yangtze aboard the boat Doudart de Lagrée between 1909 and 1910, in China.
- A stereoscopic camera.
- A copy of the following publication: l’Atlas de Louis Audemard : Chine : haut Yang Tseu et Yalong, Paris : Service hydrographique de la Marine, 1914.

3) DOCUMENTARY RESOURCES: ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXCAVATIONS - CHINA. THESE DOCUMENTARY RESOURCES COMPRISE:
- 148 ektachromes and their black and white photographs taken between the years 1950 and 1956. They show archaeological excavations in China of tombs, pits and dwellings, as well as artefacts (bronzes, jades, pottery, lacquerware, belt buckles, mingqi, murals) of sites dating from the Paleolithic to the Yuan dynasty.
From September 2 to 8, 1956, the 9th conference of the Congress of Young Sinologists was organized in Vanves (France). It was chaired by Paul Demiéville from the Collège de France and Robert des Rotours from the Institut des Hautes Etudes Chinoises. Vadime Elisseeff, then director of the musée Cernuschi, was part of the organizing committee. Among the lectures presented, the vice-president of the Academia Sinica and archaeologist, Xia Nai 夏鼐 (1910-1985) presented recent archaeological discoveries in China, his presentation included a selection of photographs. Today, these images constitute the above-mentioned documentary resources held at the musée Cernuschi.
