This private archive encompasses:

• Over 1000 Rolleiflex 6x6 negatives taken mostly in China (in addition to a smaller amount depicting Korea, Japan, and others unidentified places around the world). These negatives are in great majority preserved in original envelopes, with sometimes small reading prints (size 3cmx3cm),

• 14 albums, which includes a selection of around 120 printed photographs (size 13x13cm) glued on black paper leaves. These albums are stored in Chinese-style boxes in midnight blue or dark brown, closed with 2 bone cleats, the whole opening in 4 parts (boxes dimensions: 28,5cm x 25,5cm x 5 to 7 cm; albums dimensions: 24cm x 24cm),

• Several loose leaves manuscripts describing images,

• Letters sent to Marie Roberte Dolléans-Guignard’s mother,

• Camera utilized during her journey in China (Rolleiflex),

• Obituary of Marie Roberte Dolléans-Guignard written by Marie-Rose Séguy and published in “Bulletin des Bibliothèques de France Paris”, 1972, April n°4.

Marie Roberte Dolléans-Guignard took photographs with a Rolleiflex she bought at that time in Beijing, and printed the photographs in China. She depicted her surroundings in Beijing (she lived in a traditional siheyuan), her journey across China’s hinterlands, as well as her relatives (including Gustav Ecke, Adam Von Trott, Vadim Elisseef, and Elisabeth Allen amongst others).
Today, her archive is held by her daughter Claire Guignard in Paris. The overall archive is in excellent state or preservation and protected in a Chinese wooden crafted lacquer box (size 47cm x 15cm x 15cm). Negatives taken in China has been digitized for the sake of this online platform. Thus far, this archive remained private and has never been publicly diffused.
