MUSÉE FRANÇAIS DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE
The Musée français de la photographie holds:
• 36 daguerreotypes, including 3 daguerreotypes made by the contemporary photographer Patrick Bailly-Maître-Grand (born in 1945) after Itier’s daguerreotypes,

• Itier’s logbooks containing over 1000 pages,

• First, second and third volumes of Itier’s original publication: Itier, Jules. Journal D'un Voyage En Chine En 1843, 1844, 1845, 1846. Paris: Dauvin et Fontaine, 1848.

Itier’s daguerreotypes measures 17 x 21 cm (the image itself measures 9,3 x 14,3 cm), which were standard measures of daguerreotypes plates. He associated horizontal and vertical compositions. The few Patrick Bailly-Maître-Grand’s daguerreotypes after Itier’s plates measure 39.3 x 33,2 cm (images itself measure 24 x 18 cm).

The publication “Journal d’un Voyage en Chine” measures H 21,6 x L 29,2 x P 3,8 cm (open), and H 21,6 x L 14,5 x P 2,2 cm (closed). A selection of few pages is digitized and available on the Museum’s online catalogue.

Daguerreotypes are inventoried and digitized and available on the Museum’s online catalogue. Each daguerreotype contains three images: a retouched image to facilitate reading; an original scan of the recto; a scan of the verso that reveals inscriptions and numbers.

Between 2013 and 2014, an exhibition displayed originals and reproductions of Itier’s daguerreotypes in large travel trunks. This exhibition travelled in several places across France (such as Massy, Chamarande, Bièvres, Évry, Paris) and China (such as Beijing, Lishui, Wuhan).
